Dear Galesburg-Augusta Community,

My name is Dania Bazzi, the new Superintendent of Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools. I would like to start off by saying that it is my distinct pleasure to serve this community. I look forward to getting to know each one of you and working with you to make the Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools a premier school district.

To share a little about myself; I am originally from Southeast Michigan and moved to the west side of the state 5 years ago. My husband Zach and I are proud parents to our son Danny (age 2).

I have been in the education field for the past 9 years, serving as a high school math teacher, school improvement consultant, and curriculum director. Prior to that I worked at Ford Motor Company as a project management consultant. I am very passionate about the field of education and am committed to providing our students with innovative and unique learning experiences. The GA vision of becoming the preferred small school district in the region is something that we can accomplish together. GA’s Four Student Achievement Initiatives are solid and research-based (Professional Learning Communities, Pyramids of Interventions, Positive Behavior Supports and being a Data Driven District).  I am very excited about the 4 initiatives our staff has worked hard to develop and implement over the last few years. I am confident in our ability to strengthen and expand upon them as a team.

I believe that working through our challenges together as a community will allow us to succeed in the future. Our work together requires teamwork, collaboration and shared leadership toward a common mission, vision, values and goals.

In education,

Dania H. Bazzi, PhD
